Parashar Lake
At a distance of 33 km, from IIT Mandi campus, and perched at an altitude of about 8500 ft, Parashar lake provides an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the Himalayas. Beleaguered by mountains, and meadows, the vitreous edifices provided by the impeccably clear water of the lake, the aura of a pagoda style three tiered temple by the lake provides for an enthralling experience for an excursionist.
Barot Valley
Near the headwater of the Uhl river, Barot valley is a relatively less explored, niche day-tour destination for the backpackers, about 68 km away from IIT Mandi campus. Many walking and trekking trails pass through Barot. It is among the hidden treasures of Himachal. The place is situated in valley surrounded by thick coniferous and oak forest. The peace and tranquility of the woods here engrosses the visitors.
Rewalsar
Rewalsar Lake, also known as Tso Pema is a site of spiritual importance, situated at 44 km from IIT Mandi Kamand campus. There is a Buddhist monastery, a gurudwara and few Hindu temples in Rewalsar, on the hills surrounding the lake, transcending the impediments posed by the religious barriers. The place is visited by several Buddhists, especially on the Tibetan New Year, making Rewalsar into a mini Buddhist colony. The Naina Devi temple is situated 10 Kms away from the lake on the hill top and offers a breath taking view of the lush green valleys around. The snow cladded peaks of the Parvati range from a distance are found to coruscate with an argentiferous resplendence.
Pandoh dam and Hanogi Temple
The Pandoh Dam is an embankment dam on the Beas River in Mandi district, on the way to Kullu, about 40 km away from IIT Mandi campus. It is good transit spot to enjoy Beas river in its splendour serpentine among the surrounding hills. A little further from Pandoh (8 km) is the famous temple of Hanogi Mata on the banks of the Beas river, which is venerated by the locals.
Chindi
Chindi Hill Station is situated on a ridge by the Karsog Valley and is adored by meadowing hills and dense coniferous vegetation. There are apple orchards and small temples situated near Chindi. It is also famous for rugs and handicraft items, available in the local market. It is about 80 km from Mandi, and may take more than a single day for a proper visit.
Naggar Castle
The Castle, once inhabited and owned by the rulers of Kullu has been converted into a rest house, a hundred years back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel. This medieval Castle was built by Raja Siddh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D. The hotel overlooks the Kullu Valley. Apart from the spectacular view and superb location this building has a flavour of authentic western Himalayan architecture. The destination is 73 km away from IIT Mandi.
Nicholas Roerich Museum

Sissu Lake
is known for its rustic charm and all-around sun-kissed Himalayan mountain range. Due to its proximity to Manali, it is a famous day trip destination in Himachal. Snow lovers can experience snowfall in winters while in summer you can enjoy the green landscape dotted with trees of willows and poplars. The distance from Solang valley to Sissu lake is 27 km through the newly constructed Rohtang tunnel.
